Foreign drivers get away scot-free in accidents

Home THE STRAITS TIMES june 24

Many calls and letters and so on have been sent to the traffic police and even the government on the problem of foreign drivers.
I'm not pointing to all foreign drivers, but there is a small minority which tarnish the reputation of foreign drivers in Singapore. Furthermore, as all these drivers work at construction sites or for shipping companies, they drive big and heavy lorries and trucks, these lorries and trucks are a driving hazard to many of the road users in Singapore. As they are not used to the way Singaporeans drive, added with their "experience" of driving back in their home country, foreign drivers make up a large majority of road accidents.
What is even more disturbing is that these drivers when and if they ever encounter an accident are too afraid to face the consequenes and penalties that they just drive off !?!? turning the accident into a hit and run case, where the victim dead or alive will be left by him or herself until further rescue comes.
I think every driver in Singapore has seen how reckless these foreign drivers drive on our roads, and i believe that we have to do something about it !
So people please drive safely and watch out for these inconsiderate people.

i think maybe the employers who employ these foreign workers should send their workers to driving school just to make sure that they don't drive recklessly. it would be safer for everybody.
